Awareness Begins Within You: The 8 Types of Well-Being

Hello traveller, fancy meeting you here. I see you've come to embark on your journey of self-discovery and self-improvement.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and that single step is awareness.
Awareness of what, you may ask?
Awareness of your different types of health. Not just health of the body or mind, but 8 types of well-being that would impact you in every way. They are namely:
1. Emotional Well-Being
The ability to manage stress, be resilient, and generate the emotions that lead to good feelings.
2. Physical Well-Being
The ability to improve the functioning of your body through healthy eating, good exercise habits and other habits for rest and rejuvenation.
3. Social Well-Being
The ability to communicate, develop meaningful relationships with others, and maintain a support network that helps you overcome loneliness.
4. Workplace Well-Being (a.k.a. Occupational Well-Being)
The ability to pursue your interests, values, and purpose in order to gain meaning, happiness, and enrichment professionally.
5. Societal Well-Being (a.k.a. Environmental Well-Being)
The ability to actively participate in a thriving community, culture, and environment.
6. Intellectual Well-Being
The ability to think in terms of logic, creativity, as well as to acquire new knowledge and experiences.
7. Financial Well-Being
The ability to manage personal finances and finances of accounts under your care. As stress from handling finances can spill over to impact other aspects of well-being, we'll be covering ways to help you monintor and nurture your financial health.
8. Spiritual Well-Being
The ability to experience and integrate meaning and purpose in life through connectedness with self, others, art, music, literature, nature, or a power greater than oneself.
It should be noted that every aspect of well-being does not work in silos from each other. Maintaining and growing personal well-being is an internal balancing act and the effects of one would spill over to at least one other.
To us at Growing Unicorns (GU), achieving a fully developed and balanced version of oneself is not as daunting as it sounds. This is a unicorn that is not as mythical as it sounds, and we want to help you achieve this unicorn status, i.e. being a Unic individual.
As we proceed further on this journey of self-improvement, it is highly recommended to reflect on and monitor these different aspects of well-being regularly.
In upcoming GU content, we will explore more on each type, and cover ways to improve the respective areas.
